Reduplicative

As this blog can testify, Anu Garg’s A.Word.A.Day has provided an endless supply of interesting words for me.  Last week, however, it was the week’s theme, not the individual words, that provided the best word.  A reduplicative is a word in which the root or the stem is repeated.

It’s most pure form would be an exact repetition, like bye-bye or night-night, two of my son’s favorite words right now.
